Has anyone every read this book? I am curious to other's thoughts on it.
Not too long ago, I listened to this book via Audible, and I found it to be very strange and eerie.
The story is about a young girl (Chloe) who looks up to her older half sister (Ruby). Ruby and Chloe have a very close relationship, and in my opinion, unhealthy and/or disturbing, due to the fact that Ruby basically had to raise Chloe from a very young age. Ruby is described as a very popular and very beautiful character, who has the town magically wrapped around her finger. This ability goes beyond just popularity though. Although not specifically said, Ruby's effects over the town seems very supernatural. When a tragedy occurs involving Chloe, Ruby uses these abilities to make the situation go the way she wants it to.
The story is very suspenseful and gives clues throughout the book to what really is going on, but never really explains anything until the very end. And even then, I still was not quite sure what happened. I found the book to be very dark and surreal.
The point of view was interesting as well. It was told through Chloe's point of view, and maybe this was just from listening to it by audio book but I always felt that the point of view was going to change, but it never did.
I did enjoy the book to some degree, but I would not say it is a favorite. Just very very strange...
Thoughts??
