Incarceron by Catherine Fisher

Post by barb429 »

Incarceron is the story of two very different people, Finn and Claudia, each whom live two very different lives, but are both trying to escape their own prisons.

Finn lives in the massive prison, Incarceron, whose location and size is completely unknown. He knows nothing about his past, only that he longs to escape from this prison. He does not even know if escape is possible, if there is an outside. There are stories of Sapphique, the one person believed to have escaped from Incarceron; however, nobody knows how he did it. Hope arrives when Finn comes into possession of a key, which he believes can take free him, if he can only discover how to use it.

The other character, Claudia, is the daughter of the Warden of Incarceron. Her destiny has been decided for her, as she has been betrothed to the future king, Caspar and she longs to be free to make her own choices. When she searches her father’s study to find a key of her own, she meets Finn and they each search for a way to escape.

This is a fun and interesting book, full of surprises and adventure as we follow Finn and Claudia on their separate journeys to find not only escape, but the truth about Incarceron. Incarceron provides a rich plot with interesting, relatable characters. This is a good book for those who enjoy fantasy and getting lost in other worlds.
