Review of The Journey to Success
Parth, famous for the kindness and help he has shown hundreds of people, attends an interview. In the interview, he shares his life story and how he got to be where he was.
He began from his early humble days; he narrated the struggles and challenges he had to overcome and the lessons he learned along the way. He talked of the people he met, the dangers he faced, and the sacrifices he and his family had to make to ensure a better future. His journey to success was unique. In The Journey to Success by Niyati Patel, we learn the ups and downs of achieving success from Parth's perspective.
This book was very inspirational and infused with emotion. The storyline was realistic, and the reader would find it easy to follow the protagonist's journey from the beginning to the end.
The main part of the story is narrated in the protagonist's voice, and occasionally, the author brings us back to the present to redirect the story or add some information. The reader will not be lost at any point despite the back-and-forth switches.
The book is packed with lessons about how to treat others and how not to lose sight of what is essential. It shows us how to recover after facing disappointment, betrayal, and loss. It shows us that only the person who gives up and gives in to the despair loses. Anybody can create a turning point in their story.
The author has a greater purpose in mind for writing this book. In the last few pages, she details one of India's biggest problems and calls on every concerned person to do what they can to stop it.
Despite the enjoyable storyline, this book is challenging to read because of how it is written. A person who reads regularly gets used to a brief mental pause whenever a comma is inserted into a sentence. When a comma is used after every other word, even in very unnecessary cases, it makes the reader find it difficult to get into the flow of the book. The overuse of commas is what I dislike the most about this book.
The layout of the book could also use some work. The margins of the PDF are cut so close to the words of the book that some letters have been cut out, especially in the first few pages.
There are many errors, mostly punctuation errors. The book needs another round of professional editing. Due to the abovementioned issues, I give the book a rating of 3 out of 5 stars. This will be a delightful book if the author can fix the punctuation and layout issues and eliminate unnecessary commas. I recommend it to people who enjoy memoir-like stories.
