Great review. From the sample I read, it does sound interesting although its not my go to genre. I just might give it a try.

Thanks for the review. I enjoy hearing stories about feminists before before their time. This sounds like a great one with great depictions of the area as a bonus.

I just read the sample and it took me back to my childhood. For the longest time I was the girl who couldn't "talk right". Okay there are still words that I'm informed that I don't say "right". Personally I feel that man just doesn't know how to listen "raight". Hahaha. I picked up the book then I jumped back here to see if it was reviewed. Backward, I know. Trust me, it's not the first, nor the last time, I will do something backwards. I was happy to see that the review confirmed this as a good read. I'd have probably drowned in my coffee if you said it had editing issues or was horrible. I was looking forward to reading it. Now I'm so excited I'll most likely try to sneak it in today. :techie-studyingbrown: :coffee3-smiley:

Thanks for the review! After reading this review I definitely want to read give this one a read. Scout is my all time favorite heroine I've ever read. I also think the brief synopsis was great, I'm very interested in reading about this time period, especially from the perspective of a young female. Can't wait to give this one a try!

Good job on the review :)
After reading the sample, I can't say it's something I would read, for me the descriptions were way too long which made the writing seem tedious. Maybe others will enjoy it though. :)

This really does sound like a good one. Did you find that it was overtly religious? I know the description on Amazon says it is. I'm just curious, as I don't like to read books with a lot of religious overtones.

Great review!

Thank you for the review. I liked that you pointed the comparison to kill a mockingbird, the ones of us who have read it will feel related to this story and thats awesome!

Lovely review! While I don't really consider myself a feminist, more of a tree-hugging hippie (deemed by my husband). LOL. I will be adding this lovely tale to my TBR!

This doesn't sound like something I want to read, but Patti sounds like a great character :)

Great review! Patti seems like a great likable character. I really like the time period of this book - right after WWII and before Equal Employment Opportunity Commission came into play. Sounds like a great historical fiction, as well as young adult. :)

Excellent review. Great choice for book of the day. I loved the preview my favorite part was when Patty Jo stole the boy's pants. And she saves the brother who chases he before he gets hit by the train.
