Summer of the Monkeys

Post by twirling Em »

"Summer of the Monkeys" is a heartfelt book, written by Wilson Rawls (the author of "Where The Red Fern Grows"). The story tells of 14 year old Jay Berry and how he, along with the help of family and friends, spends his whole summer doing his best to catch the circus' missing monkeys. The story gave me lots of laughs, including when the monkeys got Jay Berry drunk, and when they stole his pants. I think people of all ages should read this book. It gives a great insight on what life was like for a poor boy growing up in the 1960s. It also shows the love of a family especially between a brother and a sister. I would recommend this book to any and all my friends.
