To be honest, I have read way too many YA books 😂 but if I had to choose one, I would probably choose The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas

Of course, there are the obvious options like the "Harry Potter" series by J.K. Rowling, the "Percy Jackson" series by Rick Riodan, the "Twilight" series by Stephanie Meyer, the "Hunger Games" series by Suzanne Collins, the "Divergent" series by Veronica Roth, or "The Mortal Instruments" series by Cassandra Clare. Out of those the "Divergent" series and "The Mortal Instruments" are my favorites. There is others that I would recommend, like "The Outsiders" by S.E. Hinton (which is a classic), "Thirteen Reasons Why" by Jay Asher (just like the series they made based on this book, *trigger warning*), the "House of Night" series by P.C. Cast and Kristin Cast, and so much more. I could keep going and going. There is no shortage of good/great YA books.

I also agree that Harry Potter is a go-to, and honestly it is amazing for any age. I find myself reading them still even though I'm an adult. Also, I did find myself liking the Sarah Dessen books, and also I read all of the Pretty Little Liars books. Although these are different from the series that was on TV, these books were amazing. These are great for summer time as well -- easy reads that you can take to the pool with you.

If you're interested in retellings of Arthurian tales, I recommend 'Once & Future' by Amy Rose Capetta and Cory McCarthy. In this tale, the main character is a girl who is the latest reincarnation of King Arthur and needs to repeat the trials Arthur went through, but it takes place in space.

Every single one of Leigh Bardugo's books are a must read. It makes me wonder how every single one of her books seem to exceed your expectations effortlessly.

I would recommend The Selection series by Kiera Cass. It’s a very interesting series. For those that have not heard of it. It has a concept similar to The Bachelor but it’s set in the future and the stakes are much higher.

The Arc of the Scythe series is a really good book. I've only read the first one (included with Amazon Unlimited) and am debating on buying the second.

I personally love Ellen Hopkins or Sarah Dessen. My recommendation for Ellen Hopkins would be "Identical" and my recommendation for Sarah Dessen would be "Dreamland."
