The book Penny Maybe written by Kathleen Martin was an interesting read that encased the life of a sixteen year old girl who lost her parents at a young age and was in and out of foster homes.
I thought that her plan to swim the lake was pretty cool. Also the way the author was able to describe the landscape for certain settings in the book helped me to visualize in my mind from Penny's view point.
There were a few things that I was confused on. For instance while reading certain parts in the book the story would give minor flashbacks into Penny's life however you would have to read through them to even realize they were not from her past so when you try to continue reading you may get a little confused and lost in the story.
Also I really appreciated the authors attention to detail in certain aspects of the story however some of the main settings I felt were lacking.
Lastly while reading the story Penny spoke about swimming Lake Ontario and that is again pretty cool however the ending left you on a cliffhanger and I felt that the entire book was leading you up to this big swim like a finding yourself kind of moment however the ending disappointed me.
