The Crystilleries of Echoland by Dew Pellucid follows 12-year-old Will as he tries to find his twin sister and learns he is the key to saving Echoland. Will and his sister went missing ten years ago, with Will being the only sibling to resurface. Ever since, his parents have been searching for her. Relying on a vague memory of what happened to him, he jumps into the frozen pond in his front yard and finds himself in Echoland. From there, the wild adventure begins. Will learns that a person has two versions: an Echo and a Sound. Sounds exist in the real world, and echoes exist in Echoland. Will and his Echo are being hunted, and it is up to Will to save his Echo and all of Echoland.

This story was well done but leaned more toward a middle grades or early teens novel. The beginning was a little slow, and it was difficult to understand what was happening, but I soon understood where the story was going. Once Will gets to Echoland, the action does not stop until the end of the story.

The minor characters of this story were my favorite. They helped Will even though Will was endangering their lives. Everyone wanted to see Echoland become what it was when the Fortune Tellers were not in charge of everything. Will and his Echo are the only people able to do that. Even though these characters have a lot on their shoulders, they can still be kids and have fun with what they are doing.

It does take a while for Will to meet up with his Echo, as people are watching both Will and his Echo. Once they meet, the actual task begins of finding what they are looking for. There is a lot of research involved, and Will spends a lot of time in the library, proving that he is up to the task ahead of him. In the end, the solution is satisfying as it shows what the power of hard work can do and that giving up cannot be the only option.

I gave this book a 5 out of 5. There were minimal spelling and grammar errors, and the story was incredibly engaging. This book has no adult themes and is an excellent quick read for anyone who likes adventure and fantasy.
