I like teenage adventures and escapedes. This reminds me of the good of old days when I was in their shoes. Our world looked different and has left some memories in us. Good review.

SPOILER
This was a remarkable story of immigrant kids in America. To all non-Westerners who haven't been to the US, this provides a glimpse of what happens to all those communal values and heritages you had growing up when faced with the liberalism and permissiveness of America.

I give it four stars out of four because that scene where parents interrogate their children if they are still virgin was too raw and true for us non-Westerners trying to lead a modern life with modern values.

Goodbye, Rudy Kazoody is a wonderful depiction of life.
The spirit woke me. At that moment, I realized the meaning of that final dream. That meaning scared me more than the nightmare itself, and, at that point, I realized I’d never have the dream again.

It's like two hero characters. This book is just timely. Nowadays, a lot of challenges teenagers may face. Bullies maybe one. But it doesn't end there. The real tough is technology. Gadgets, games etc. We parents, should really handle it with care. Because not easy to unplug kids with technology. Thanks for the review.

This might be interesting to read. At least have an idea how teenager acts, and adapt situations. Nowadays, because of information age, I mean the age of technology, we see that there are lots of individualistic idea among teenagers. But despite of that, majority of them possessing great ideas. Family, government should only need to find out greatness from them. Just keep guiding and supporting them to unleash their potentials.

The title of the book brought me here to read your review and I found it very interesting, starting with the quote at the beginning. Joey and Spike sound like very compelling characters and I think other gang(?) members could be too. Thank you for the review!
It was so gorgeous it almost felt like sadness. The Lake, Banana Yoshimoto

Teenagers really need to read about Spike and his character. Teenagers have something to learn from the life of friends.

Having sexual content irritates me during reading. However, some others might like to give it a try. Thanks for the review

I'll recommend this to young adults. It's always difficult for young people to try to fit especially in a place where they don't belong. I'll love to read more of this.
