[Following is an official OnlineBookClub.org review of "A Twist of Fate" by Tina Dison.]

First-time author, Tina Dison, writes a YA vampire romance that will keep the reader captivated. Dison creates a story that takes you on the journey of a teenager that is tired of being abused and wants to get away. This 504-page tale takes you through all kinds of emotions from sadness and depression to irrevocable love.

In A Twist of Fate, you find 18-year old Angelia Johanson, aka Angel, ready to leave Kansas because she has been beaten by her alcoholic father for the last time. After being kidnapped while traveling, she finds herself hospitalized in Newport, Oregon. At the hospital, she meets her rescuer, Sean Callenger. While waiting to see what the police are going to do with her kidnapper, Angel quickly begins to make friends in Oregon and even gets a job. In the meantime, her friends decide it is a good idea to try to play matchmaker, and Angel is doing everything in her power not to get involved in a relationship. When she finally falls for Sean she knows something’s not quite right, but can she handle the truth about what he is?

I enjoyed this book immensely. The plot of this book is the romance, but the subplot is about Angel’s kidnapper, and I think both intertwine beautifully. The author does a great job with all the details, in particular with the main characters. Angel comes off like a scared and battered young woman, but by the end of the story, she is determined to stand on her own two feet and not be afraid anymore. Sean is depicted as the overprotective vampire that thinks Angel is as fragile as glass. He cannot come to terms that she will make her decisions regardless of what the overbearing and brooding vampire wants. Anyone who has read the Twilight series would enjoy this story. This book reminds me of Twilight because there were some similarities, but not so much that I did not want to continue the story. Even though this book is in the YA genre, adults would enjoy reading this book as well.

In my opinion, I felt the book tended to drag some when Angel first got to Oregon and was making a life for herself. Also, there were a lot of grammatical errors throughout the book. Those errors included misspellings, forgotten words, misplaced words, and missing punctuation. Another thing that made my mind wonder from the story while I was reading, and this could be just the format of the book I received, was that the running header on every other page just has the word Twist instead of the whole title of the book.

I rate A Twist of Fate 3 out of 4 stars. If the grammatical errors and running header were fixed, this could easily be a 4-star book. The storyline is well-written and will keep the reader engaged throughout the whole book. The story does end on a cliffhanger, so I searched the internet to find out when the next book will be released. I found on Amazon where there is another book by the author, A Twist of Hope, that looks like the sequel to this book, but it is currently unavailable.

You did a great job making me interested in the book with your summary of it. It's unfortunate that there are some parts of it that drag. It's never good when a book causes a reader's mind to wander away from it. Hopefully the sequel will end up being even better!

Hi Tina, I have not read this book but from your review it seems that it would be fun to read. I love a really good mystical book especially if it includes a really good romance. This would seem to be something I would like to read as I love young people books, they tend to be lighter and I find, more honest than many adult tasts.

It sounds interesting. Is there something in particular that sets it apart from other vampire stories? Regardless i wouldn't read it untilthe sequel was available. Thanks for the review.

The way the vampires are is unique. In Tina Dison's world they can walk around in the day, which we have seen before, but they way they eat and how are new. Also, one of the things that reminded me of the Twilight books is when they step out into full sun they change, but the change is way different than Twilight. I don't want to give too much away, but I hope this helps.

Both the subplot and main plot sound interesting. Kidnapping seems really hard to write about because I figure you have to get the reader really emotionally invested in the story. Too bad about the grammatical errors. Great review.
