Review of Island Games
“Island Games” by Caleb J. Boyer is a story about two boys, Matthew and Ryan, who wake up to find they are suddenly on an unknown island all by themselves. To make matters worse, the island has dangerous animals and strange booby traps to terrify these best friends. As they weather stormy clouds and several instances that challenge their survival on the island, Matthew and Ryan grow together and try to escape this weird island using their teamwork, strength, courage, and survival instincts. Read “Island Games” to find out whether our boys escaped this island and everything that transpired while they were trapped there.
The best part of reading this book was the adventure Matthew and Ryan had while living on the island. Although they were stuck trying to fight off beasts and survive by fishing and foraging for food, they also allowed themselves to have fun and enjoy having the entire island and being disconnected from the outside world. Their camaraderie is enjoyable to read, and their journey of survival makes the reader feel like they are on that island with them. Caleb’s writing style needs to be appreciated for that aspect.
Learning that the author built this plot at the age of 12 is impressive. The story is well thought out, and the challenges faced by the two boys kept me on the edge of my seat. Whenever they’d hear growling noises from the jungle at night, I’d be terrified for their safety. One incident where they encountered a shark was particularly terrifying, and the writing style reflected the threat of the beast faced by the boys very well. Overall, I really enjoyed reading “Island Games,” and the author has done a fantastic job of perfectly capturing the genre of the plot through his writing.
I did not find anything to dislike in this book. I totally enjoyed this thriller novel. It is a great read that can be finished in one sitting because the adrenaline and suspense will have you turning the pages swiftly. There were no errors in “Island Games” by Caleb J. Boyer. This book seems professionally edited.
For the above-mentioned positive reasons and the lack of any negative reasons, I rate this book 5 out of 5 stars. I thoroughly enjoyed reading “Island Games” by Caleb J. Boyer, and it absolutely deserves full stars.
I recommend this book to adventure fiction readers. People who enjoy young adult action novels will definitely love reading this book. It is not just a thrilling plot but also a thought-provoking book with strong moral lessons.
