Review of Orinthia
Most Everyone's Orinthia: Super Mental is not your usual superhero's background story. It is a story about the efficiency of the mind, about mental illnesses, about telepathy, and about a world where science is on the verge of discovery.
The story begins with a description of Orinthia's struggle with Generalized Anxiety Disorder. We see her world decreasing daily as the noise of anxiety overwhelms all the other sounds. This raw depiction is shocking and yet compulsive, giving the audience a view into Orinthia's private turmoil. Because she feels she has no other choice, Orinthia signs up for a clinical trial that has not been proven to be safe. The promise? An antidote to her anxiety and the secret to one's "super mental" capabilities. The reality? Filling her head with thoughts and feelings of disarray, she changed her newfound gift into a blight.
Orinthia struggles to deal with the increased number of thoughts and emotions coming from other people. The constant barrage exacerbates her anxiety, making her feel like a shipwrecked sailor who is still afloat but lost in the middle of the ocean of noise. This internal battle is at the core of the story, meaning that Orinthia's arc is not only about gaining abilities and mastering them but also about learning to take back command of her mind. Amid the loud noise in her head, Orinthia meets some like-minded people. A relationship develops with another trial participant, symbolizing a bond that carries some degree of comprehension. Moreover, she hears the unknown voice that interferes with her thoughtsᅳthe voice that inspires her curiosity and preliminary confidence. These relationships become beacons in Orinthia's storm that make her realize that she is not on her journey alone.
The book is not afraid to deal with the adversity of mental illness. Orinthia's story is real, and it paints a picture of an often-overlooked reality many women go through. It was inspiring to have the notion of “super mental” ability introduced. These powers are not dramatic mystical performances of superhuman abilities; they are a two-edged sword, which makes Orinthia face her weakness and the chaos in the human mind. The events of the narrative are lovers, personal development, and a hint of the otherworldly. This makes the narrative interesting and unique, thus appealing to the various categories of readers interested in the series.
Of course, I do not have any dislikes against the book itself, but there is a criticism, which is that the narrative focuses from time to time on the inner thoughts and feelings of the other characters. While this is great for depth, it could interfere with it for those who expect only one type of content. In my opinion, the editing has been good, with no errors so far. Therefore, I am giving this book 5 out of 5 stars. Orinthia is not just a conceptually stimulating story but also a deeply touching one. It deals with the subject of mental health issues but has a positive tone as well and is about people's ability to recover. Even if the topics discussed in the book are rather controversial, the combination of genres and the focus on inner conflicts make the story quite interesting for those who are tired of stereotypical superhero narratives.
