Grim Daze is the second book in The Grim Chronicles and a book I loved but one I would have been obsessed with when I was a child. Complete with magic, dragons, and shapeshifting wolves, this book will take you on the adventure of a lifetime. Grim Daze is not only well-written but also comes complete with illustrations, for when your imagination is just not enough, keeping even the most distractable people engaged.

This second book continues with the adventures of the wizard Howl. Grim Daze follows the story of the opposing sides of magic and non-magic users, following the adventures of Howl and his animal companions in the fight against the hoomans, as the book calls them. It is a struggle for freedom and a story of adventure and hope. A brutal war is afoot and Grim Daze becomes an action-packed battle story. This book is fast-paced, funny, and captivating, keeping one engaged and interested with every turn of the page. With numerous complex characters and intricate relationships, it is a book anyone would love. From fantasy to complexity and humor, I never wanted the journey to end.

The only minor negative thing I have to say about this book is that it is so fast-paced that it is hard to keep track of who is who and which side is being narrated. In my opinion, however, this adds to the confusion of war, you are not always able to keep track of who’s side you are on or what is happening.

I gave this book a five out of five because the writing, world-building, and storytelling were impeccable, even if the layout of the book made it hard to keep track of all the characters and tactics being used. The overall experience and journey of this book were incredible and interesting, making up for any inconveniences while reading. It is a series I am going to continue reading.
