Review of Grim Daze (The Grim Chronicles Book 2)
This book is a combination of various stories, but it starts with Howl. Howl, a wizardly wolf, runs through a dry area being chased by flames and fireballs. He barely avoids getting killed and jumps off a cliff; he turns to human form in mid-air and uses vines to descend before shifting back to a wolf. His sister, Bertha, a powerful grey wolf engulfed in blue flames, uses fireballs to fight, but Howl defeats her with water magic. Their cousin Peat says that Howl is the winner of their magical fight. Later, when they are preparing for an important journey, Howl suffers from the effects of a dragon bite that almost cost him an arm. Bertha and Peat accompany him, and each of them has their jokes and peculiarities, and the travel that they start is the one that will help them strengthen their friendship and get ready for further adventures. Combined, they face various phobias, develop their magical skills, and build up their bonds as siblings. When the three set off for the southern peaks, where dangers are lurking and enemies from the past are waiting, will Howl be able to find the serenity he is longing for, or will the darkness of his past catch up with him?
This book is a combination of many sub-stories and is one of those that, when read, make you feel good. The author does a great job of creating vivid descriptions. For example, the descriptions of Howl’s transformations and his attempts to avoid being burned alive are very thrilling, and the author’s ability to make the reader distinguish between the real and the imaginary world is fascinating. The writing style helps the characters come alive, and this is especially seen when Howl transforms between a wolf and a man, making him a multi-dimensional character. The sibling rivalry between Howl and his hot-headed sister, Bertha, also brings humor into the mix. These stories not only give the readers an expectation of the thrills, but they also take them to a complex world where magic, family, and survival are connected.
I had a great time reading this book. The stories may seem much, but they are very interesting to read. I rate Grim Daze (The Grim Chronicles Book 2) by D.R. Martin 5 out of 5 stars because I found nothing to dislike about it. It was exceptionally edited and had no errors. I recommend this book to teenagers. They will love it because of how adventurous it is.
