D.R. Martin's book is an exciting and loving story. Nola, Grim, and Bertha embark on different quest filled with dangers and mysteries. Grim is an old wizard who keeps up with his younger friends using his spells. There is an amusing part to this story with friends having playful water fights and various battles in the form of adventure and themes of happiness, courage, lightness, and darkness, leaving the reader inspired.

The development of characters and special capabilities is one of the reasons I liked Grim Daze (The Grim Chronicles Book 2). Peat is quite a different kind of man, with his dark turquoise eyes and his talent for languages. He seems to find fun even in the most intricate situations, as when he made Bertha and Howl laugh by dropping rocks on the soldiers' heads.

It's the realism of the characters combined with the lighthearted episodes, such as the water fight between Peat, Howl, and Bertha, that imbue them with a sense of reality, making them likeable. It is through such moments of friendship and enjoyment during the war that balance is brought to the story. The book was exceptionally well edited and error-free.

Nothing has been disliked by me in this book, simply because it combines action with a dosage of humor and deep emotions amazingly well. The characters show really great development, and their special abilities add even more to the story. The way it holds a good balance of really fun moments and action scenes makes the story enjoyable from start to finish.

I give this book 5 out of 5 stars because it has the exact right amount of action, comedy, and meaningful emotions. The characters themselves are fleshed out, and their magical abilities only improve the experience. I gave this rating because I never really got bored with the mix of funny bits and suspenseful sequences that came along with it. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who enjoys a mix of fantasy and adventure.
