While a war is going on thousand of miles away, another one is being fought by the loved-ones at home. The latter is equally brutal as the former.

It's a shame about those errors, I've read many books where I stopped loving them once too many errors appeared. Still your review really has me wanting to read this, so thanks.

A very interesting book starting .It really entails the predicaments of the military families as they got to adapt when their loved ones go for war . It is really difficult as they don't know whether they will be back alive or dead.

Awesome review! This sounds like an engrossing story, I might have to pick it up. It's unfortunate that there are so many grammar errors!

Your review is interestingly written. Usually, there is first a summary of the book followed by the reviewers opinions and score. However, you intertwined the two, stating things that happened in the book and how you felt about them together. This made for an interesting interpretation. I enjoyed it.

I think I might have a hard time getting into this one simply because I struggle when relating to a narrative voice that doesn't match my own. No fault of the author obviously, just my own shortcoming as a reader. Hopefully, this book can find an audience in the many teens living similar life stories today. Thanks, OWLIE!

Thanks everyone for the feedback! One of the best things about this story is that the author perfectly captured the way a tween would feel when a parent is away during wartime. It certainly made it harder for the daughter to deal with the situation since her mother was falling apart and drinking heavily.

I'm interested because it was written on the tweens perspective. I think the main theme is interesting and especially for those who have an army in the family. Thanks for your detailed and well-written review.

Thanks Julessawyer for the nice feedback. :) The book was very thought-provoking and it showed all the ways a war deployment affects the different members of a family.

Amazing review! I love how thought out your review is, and how you pointed out the errors nonchalantly. Having a father away in the military, and a drunk mother, Abbie's story personally interests me.

bookowlie wrote: 12 May 2018, 20:56 The conversational writing style is done so well that I felt as if Abbie was chatting with me in person. The tween’s “voice” is captured with all the facets of her personality and anxiety about her father’s safety.
I love it when an author knows how to create that super-realism feel, truly engaging the reader. She sounds like a good writer. I really enjoyed your review. I feel like I really have a sense of the book. Thanks!

I love the YA genre! Sounds like a great read for those connected to military life.
I also love the cover art! So beautiful!
