Lilith was born different. She grew up seeing and conversing with the dead.

The author, Dr. Robert K. Wheeler, Jr. has written five novels. His genre is a paranormal romance with Greek and Roman mythology. The Witch of Endor is book one of the Vampire series with 153 exciting pages.

The Witch of Endor: Vampire is about Lilith, a witch whose magic came when she reached puberty. She grew up seeing and conversing with the dead. Eventually, she opened a shop where she gave palm readings and sold talisman and trinkets. Lamech walked into her shop wanting to learn magic while teaching him they fell in love. While, on a boat together, there was a fire and then an explosion that caused them to get separated. Lilith watched Lamech floating away in a small boat abandoning her. Her heart was broken, but for her, there was safety in numbers, so she created a coven of vampires loyal to her. There is now a threat to her coven and his name is Maldivar.

This author gives the reader a mix of religion, Roman and Greek mythology, and the myths of vampires and werewolves. The descriptions given bring the characters to life, such as, the pain that Lilith feels when she survives the boat explosion will have the reader sympathizing with her. Readers will also feel Lamech’s torment when he caused the death of his son.

My favorite parts of the book were the poems at the beginning of each chapter. They gave you a clue as to what the chapter would be about. For instance, at the beginning of chapter one, the poem is about Lilith’s burned body. “Beauty is marred, burned flesh laid bare – The blood she must drink from men unaware” is a little piece of the first poem.

Another favorite part was how strong and independent Lilith was. She believed Lemech had abandoned her and her baby, but she didn’t dwell in the deceit. Lilith pulled herself up for her child, found food and then started a coven of vampires, she loved all of them and called them her children.

This book reminds me of a lighter version of Anne Rice’s “The Vampire Chronicles series”. The books are not alike, but if I had to compare this book to something I have read, then that is about as close as I can get. The vampire coven is what made me think of her books, though they are not alike, some things are similar.

My rating for The Witch of Endor: Vampire is 4 out of 4 stars. The book seems to have been well edited though it did have a few errors they didn’t take away from the story. I would recommend this book to readers who enjoy fiction, vampires, and mythology (even if it is a little twisted). I would not recommend this book to young readers due to the violence.
