If you are looking for a blood fest horror story; you know the type of stuff nightmares are made of. Well, this is not the novel for you. Even if you are seeking a blood bath murder mystery, this still is not that type of a bloody book either.

What you will find in this story is a young man by the name of Maxx. Max is an eighth-grade student in a remedial reading class. He is not in the levels because he is dumb, slow, or in any way mentally impaired. Due to living in a dangerous environment at home along with teachers that are not adequately doing their duties in trying to break through to these children. With no love, affection or even attention at home and teachers willing to write them off so quickly, what does a kid in this situation do? They act out to get that recognition that they are starving for even if the attention that they do get happens to be negative. As reputation becomes better in the eyes of these unfortunate students than putting forth the effort to try to get an education, they are placed in classes such as alternative needs courses to mainly keep them out of the way of teachers as well as their more fortunate peers. In this novel, Mr. Foxx begins to teach the "Reading Hell" class as it's referred to in the book. It's unsure to the students if he has all of his marbles, but he does start to break through to them. As part of the process, gives each person in the class an assignment to write an essay of when they stopped giving a crap in their short little lifetimes. Though Maxx did not write his story to hand in initially, Mr. Foxx gives him an A for the story that he claimed he knew Maxx was writing. This book made me cry, sad and hurt as Max writes his story. It is awful the extinct this little boy went through just in the hope that he and his younger sister Rosie would receive the love, care, and attention that children their age deserve and need.

A Bloody Book by Chris Brown is a story of what effects a broken home as well as an education system that ignores the cries for help from some of their student bodies can have on these children both short and long-term. Which as the potentials to lead to prison, death, abuse drug and other issues throughout the remainder of their lives. Maxx's story is a horrible tale of what a child who lacks in love, care, and affection endures in hopes of one day receiving it. In this novel, the students in eighth-grade "Reading Hell" class is given the assignment to write an essay on when and what made them stop caring to do good in school or their lives thus far altogether. For the protagonist Max it took place in him around the age(s) of 8/9 years old. Being beat, yelled at, toys are broken just for the fun of seeing him and his younger sister Rosie miserable. Almost able to sense/feel Maxx's blood boiling throughout each page of the book how far would or could an 8-year-old boy go in hopes that he and his sister may achieve having/experiencing happiness/love and a shot at having a normal life?

These are the types of stories that hardly anyone with a heart wants to read or hear of happening. But situation or these types of situations as a whole those that child worldwide face on a day-to-day basis all over the world. Though it is unfortunate, I think that the author did an excellent job of bringing a subject that nobody wants to think about to life. I also like the fact that he didn't just show child negligent in or on only a home front. However, it also shows how teachers and the education system as a unit also fail at doing their jobs up to higher standards, therefore, neglecting students as well. However, a story is pretty well worth reading when it has one experiencing different or any emotion period while reading it. This story did that for me.

Though, I would not say I like reading or hearing of children going through any bad situation... I cannot say that there is a part of the book that I am not fond of. Though, I would have like to know Maxx's overall outcome. Did he submit his confession? Did the essay reach Mr. Foxx? How did life turn out for Max and Rosie?

I would recommend this book to those children who think that they have it wrong but don't know how bad things could be. Also, to those children that have or are on the verge of giving up because they are in dangerous situations or know of someone that is. I think that this is a good read for both young and older readers alike.

While reading this book, I did come across two typos. However, all-in-all I give A Bloody Book a 4 out of 4-stars rating. I feel that this is an important issue. I also think like schools/the educations system also does ignore a lot of children's cries for help and I like the fact that the author is courage's enough to bring all sides of child abuse as well as neglect to the surface. I also feel that there is a positive message hidden within this story as well. I believe that message to be though life can through a lot at a person but if you let it make you not give a crap and don't work hard to get a good education than one may end up having to deal with or taking a lot more crap throughout a lifetime. Therefore, my being the reason for I feel the book deserves the score that I have given.
