Do you think Tris made the right faction choice?

Would she have accomplished as much and learner as much as she did in any other faction?

I think with what choices she had available to her she made the right choice. I think if she had chosen any other faction she wouldn't have been satisfied and would have never pushed her limits till the end.

I think Tris did not make the right choice by choosing Dauntless. I think if she would have stayed with her original faction, she would have survived and still learned everything she needed for the Revolution. On the other hand if Tris had not chosen Dauntless then the romance or love story between her and four or Tobias would have not been as exciting as it was.

Tris did make a choice that work for what was to come. I personally believe that she could have been happy anywhere but choosing dauntless is allowing her to help make the whole society change for the better.

I think she made the right choice for herself. She was excited and inspired by the Dauntless. If she would have chose Abnegation she would have been doing it for her family, not for herself but she was not selfless enough to do that in that point in her life so she didn't fit there , at least in the moment. I think she would have liked Erudite, but her family was so against Erudite it would have been hard for her to choose Erudite.

I think Tris chose the right faction, she found a lot of joy in what she was doing, and seemed to really dislike being Abnegation at the time.

She showed she was Dauntless just by picking it over Abnegation. It takes courage to disappoint those you love and it shows how much she belongs there.

I agree that dauntless was the best choice for her and I am happy she didn't stay with Abnegation. It built her character in a major way and so was clearly where she most belonged and was able to develop friendships.

I think, all in all, Tris made the only choice that she could really. She chose the one that people would least suspect, but best suit Divergent. See, Divergents have no fear, and it's interesting that Dauntless aims to live without fear. Very interesting. But in the end, she had to make that choice, in order for the plot to have, well, a plot.

I don't think she could've made a choice that was completely right. The way her world was organised has been made to quash who she truly is. In any of the factions she needed to deny a part of herself to survive. But dauntless was where Four was, and since he's one of the only people who could unlock her full potential...it was probably the best choice.

I don't know that there was a 'right' faction choice for Tris.
Before she held her hand over the bowl with the coals that indicated her choice for dauntless, many things ran through her mind. Her parents, for one, because Caleb had already chosen to leave and she knew that the selfless act would be to stay behind and take care of them, but, as she insisted, she wasn't selfless. She was selfish. She also thought of her aptitude results, and how they didn't make her choice for her, like she'd hoped they would, but in a way, the inconclusive answer sort of did make her choice. She thought of her life in abnegation and how she always seemed to struggle with being selfless, and how she saw herself as a small, weak girl, who wanted to feel strong and independant and she saw all of that in the dauntless, so she chose them, knowing that it was a brave choice, so she could belong with them.
However, I think Tris could have chose any faction, and although it would change the story, she still would have had something to tell. She's just too curious to be complacently believing whatever people tell her.

I disagree, if she had stayed in Abnegation, she would've stayed in the dark since:
1. If there was something for her to discover at Abnegation, she would've discovered it earlier.
2. Dauntless and Erudite work hand in hand, Erudite is the enemy - keep your friends close, your enemies closer. I think Dauntless allowed her to unveil things about the society she couldn't have at Abnegation.

Tris is different, she's not a sheep, she's not a rule follower, she doesn't do what she's asked to do just because the people above her say so, she trusts herself and only herself, she is divergent, she can not be controlled. If she had chosen Abnegation, it would've made her seem like just another teenage girl who's not "different" but only claims to be.

Also, Abnegation had nothing to teach her, she lived there all her life, at Dauntless, she learned how to be braver, how to be stronger, she learned that no one can be fearless because fear is what makes us human.

"Survival" isn't an issue for her because if you've read Insurgent, you know that Tris is not afraid of death and how can you say you've LIVED if you never take any risks?

And last thing: the story probably wouldn't have been as thrilling if 3/4 of the book took place in Abnegation.

I think she made the right choice for where she was in her life. She was bored and needed adventure. The faction also pushed her to her limits and let her see what she was capable of.

I think Tris made the best faction choice for the situation that she was in. The dauntless faction was the only faction that she could learn something new. She already possessed the different qualities of the other factions. The other factions didn't really have "learned" skills such as fighting like dauntless.

I don't think initiation necessarily changes Tris; I think it brings out a very strong and confident side to her that was always in her. Dauntless is in her blood, after all. I think she made the right choice because Dauntless brought out important personality traits in her that other factions wouldn't have allowed. She would have been completely different had she chosen any other faction; she wouldn't be the strong character readers get to know. I think she'd be restless in any other faction.
