How did you feel about the end of the series?

Discuss the June 2014 book of the month Divergent by Veronica Roth. While only Divergent--the first book of the series--is the book of the month, feel free to use this subforum to discuss the rest of the series or to talk about the movies, but make sure not to post spoilers unless noted in the topic title.

Painful. That's what the ending felt like for me. I don't think I can explain this any further. :(

I liked the end. It was surprising and worked for me. I enjoyed seeing the consequences of being a rebel which we don't usually get to see in most YA novels. So even though it broke my heart, I liked it.

There is nothing worse than reading a whole series only to have the main character die at the end. I felt cheated and hated the ending. However, I enjoyed the series.

The ending was, well unexpected for me. Shocking even. But I also liked how it ended. Heroes just making it through, or going out with a bang is all too common these days.

I definitely felt it was sort of a cop out ending, wasn’t my favorite but the first two books are still amazing.

Despite a lot of other commentators feeling that it was a bad ending, the ending not being all rosie and grandiose was a welcome change for me.

That concept was creepy. I didn't like the ending though because of Tris's death. I don't personally like the concept of the faction system. Nobody can be just one thing, so it seems unrealistic to me.

Yeah, more like the hunger games or maze runner.

Unfortunately, the ending left me underwhelmed and disappointed, which sucks because the series was going really well.

The ending of divergent wasn't as strong as the starting of the series in my opinion. I really did enjoy four point of view tho.

I thought that the author was going in a different way and then got off track and just needed an ending to the series. Overall I wasn't overly impressed but I thought it was a great series that I enjoyed reading.
