I'm glad you pointed out that the book needs improvement in developing the world. Fantasy books set in a new world are always hit or miss. If the author is unable to pull in readers into the world, then the world is no longer captivating.

Piper seems like a strong female character, and these are always a plus for me! I'm looking forward to seeing how she deals with the changes coming her way. Definitely going to give this book a try.

Thanks for the great review!

Looking forward to this book, since the first chapter struck me as very unique.

Thanks for the wonderful review. It is sad to see instances of the introduction of some parts that do not seem to have enough details and that have eventually led to the denial of the 1 star needed for a perfect rating. I would still love to read this.

Piper had to endure living with an alcoholic father, and supporting her young brother even after the demise of her mother through cancer pangs. This is a prophecy come true. The Piper's mother during her birth foresaw Piper as the person who will bring them back on the right track. A good book to read, but fantasy not for me though.

What are Piper's skills? I do not usually like coming of age stories, but this one has me interested. Thanks for your review.

A fantasy novel about the coming of age story of Piper learning she has supernatural abilities on her eighteenth birthday. It sounds like a good book for teenagers. Congrats to the author for winning BOTD.

I don't usually read books dealing with rebirths or reincarnation. But I do admire the creativity that seems to flow from this book.

Fantasy and Coming-of-age both are my to-go genres. Added to that, the premise of the novel makes it one I want to pick up right now. Thanks for the very refreshing review!

Interesting story about the family life, love life and adventurous life of a teenager named Piper Walker. She looses her mom and dad is abusive and given to alcohol, this doesn't deter Piper from having a good life with a close knit unit of friends including her best friend and her boyfriend Chris of which they form a band together with hopes of winning the senior musical contests. Piper is swept into a magical world where she develops powers but is now faced with the new problem of the tyrannical ruler of the magical world.
