This action/adventure novel is a welcome change of pace as it emphasises love and interpersonal connections above the violence that is so common in modern fiction.

Thanks for the insightful review. Piper is a young girl who matured quickly due to family responsibilities. An intersting and imaginative world full of being and magic. Would definitely add this to my list of book to read.

Piper, just like Mitchel Street the author, is at one with animals and nature. The troubles of life can come at her but if she has a place in the woods to find peace she will, and this is where she has her baby: alone and surrounded by trees. What will life bring this mother and child whose father has died, and her birth is a secret?

It looks like an intriguing fantasy book with mystical beings and powers that Piper discovers when she accidentally saves herself and her friends from a car accident using powers. I love fantasy books and will make sure to read it. Thank you for your review!

"Prophase: A Present Tale" offers a compelling fantasy coming-of-age story with a relatable protagonist and intriguing world-building. While some aspects felt rushed, overall it's an enjoyable read for fantasy fans.

Prophase: A Present Tale charts Piper Walker's journey as she uncovers an unfamiliar realm and her true identity. Supported by her wise neighbor Esther, she learns to harmonize the familiar with the newfound. Alongside supportive friends, Piper embarks on a remarkable coming-of-age adventure, aided by their companionship and guidance.
Piper finds herself balancing her dual realities, concealing her growing talents and changing appearance while maintaining her persona as the somewhat nerdy teenager she's always been known as. This narrative enchants with its portrayal of nature's splendor and the themes of love, vitality, and illumination, all centered around the journey of a single girl. It's a compelling read, suitable for teenagers but also appealing to a wide range of readers. I'd give it a rating of 4 out of 5 stars and recommend it wholeheartedly.

Piper's struggles and magical awakening present a rich narrative backdrop. The critique points to a need for deeper development of the fantasy elements and character introductions, balancing character growth with immersive world-building.
