Because You Care for Beany Bear by Christine J. Logan is a sweet children’s book. It is 50 pages long and divided into seven chapters. The story begins with Beany Bear searching for food. Readers get to help out along the way by following prompts within the text. Counting, finding items and singing are some of the activities that readers do to help out Beany and his friends. The illustrations are lovely and the language is friendly and at an appropriate level for young children.

I enjoyed the relaxed and gentle tone of the book. The words are kind and loving and the message of friendship comes through very clearly. The illustrations were fantastic! They fit the text quite well and really added to the story. The illustrator was not explicitly credited, but there was a reference to them in a thank you note at the beginning of the book.

The text was in rhyme that mostly flowed well. There were a few times when it seemed a bit uneven or forced. The phrasing was somewhat inconsistent. Some sentences ended without punctuation, even though the next line started with a capital. On the other hand, some sentences did end with a period. At times, the lack of punctuation seemed to fit well with a poetry format. At others, it made understanding how the phrases were meant to be read more confusing.

Choosing one format and using it consistently would make the story easier to read. Using grammar correctly and consistently is another important lesson that a storybook can teach children. While I may be a bit of a grammar geek, to me, being able to communicate well and clearly is an important part of making new friendships!

Because You Care for Beany Bear by Christine J. Logan is a charming story with excellent illustrations. I give this book a rating of 3 out of 4 stars. I have not given 4 out of 4 stars because it could use some further editing to make the rhyming and punctuation more consistent. However, this a great read for young children and their parents. It is a gentle story of finding friendships and making your way through life with a kind heart.

I believe children are to be taught virtues when they're still young, this is made possible with books like 'Because You Care for Beany Bear'. I also agree that the grammar should be corrected since children tend to copy and learn from what they read. Nice review.

I feel like I could be a child inside because I absolutely admire how they help shape minds with subtle words and beautiful rhymes. I have a feeling I would like this book though I am a bit skeptical about buying it because of the mentioned punctuation errors.

That’s too bad that there were some grammatical errors and issues with the rhyming, especially because children mirror so much of what they see and hear, but it sounds like a very sweet and gentle story to put your children to bed with! I love the cover and title of this book. It is so inviting. And you mentioned how calm and relaxing the tone of its writing is. Plus the child gets to help the bear find food through prompts. . I love those because they are a bonding time with the child. Great review and will definitely find the book!
