Before Heaven by Alyce Brown is a short story of a little girl who shares her wonderful experiences with her grandmother before she died. The book explains the aspect of death to children without mentioning the word. The tale portrays the big heart most grandparents have, especially when it comes to their grandparents. The nanny was the best and kindest; therefore, the little girl wanted to follow in her footsteps, including being a teacher.

I enjoyed numerous things. One, the little girl's grandmother had the best hug ever. The book mentions this repeatedly to emphasize the nanny's affection. That reminded me of the memorable experiences I had with my grandmother when I was a child; I still do when I visit her. My grandmother lives in a country different from mine; therefore, I spare time to stop by, and when I do, I have the best season of my life.

The introduction of the book took me back to when I was young, and my mother would make us hold hands for a word of prayer. The prayer involved a lot of things, but most importantly, she would mention grandma and grandpa. Growing up, while praying, I made it a habit to mention my mum and grandparents while talking to God.

The book starts with a word of prayer for our grandparents, who play significant roles in our lives. While we wrong our parents and are punished for the mistakes, grandparents tend to be soft, patient, and kind even in our most unbecoming behaviors.

The installment is professionally edited because I did not discover grammatical errors or typos. The book stirred up emotions in me and made me miss my grandmother. Also, children follow examples set by us adults, so it is upon us to act accordingly as role models. I didn't find anything to disdain. In this manner, I rate Before Heaven 4 out of 4 stars. I endorse it to children between the ages of 4 and 8 years.

This is an amazing children's book. Grandparents play a major role in one's life. I'm glad the author acknowledged this in this installment. Great job, JonesLeeh!
