Tina Lautenslager’s Bingo the Flamingo will enchant readers with the tale of a flamingo who faces the challenge of feeling invisible. Amid all the other flamingos, Bingo feels like there’s nothing very special about him. Then something happens that allows Bingo to prove that he really is special after all. Bingo sadly loses his beach ball when a big storm hits the beach. Yet when he goes out searching for his ball, he realizes everyone else has lost valuable things in the storm as well. By helping others to find their possessions, Bingo learns a valuable lesson about what really makes someone special in the eyes of others.

Bingo the Flamingo is a sweet story with a nice message at the end. I liked how the author integrated the idea of wanting to feel special. This is something that kids will find to be relatable. The idea of a flamingo wanting to stand out made me smile when I thought about how flamingos all look the same. I’ll never look at a flamingo the same way again! The illustrations are vibrant and colorful, and I enjoyed all the cute sea creatures. There’s a starfish who lost her shoes, a squid with a lost hat, and other fun characters.

I didn’t have any major criticisms of the book. It is short, simple, and sweet. While I would have liked even a few more pages to be added, the length is appropriate for very young children.

Bingo the Flamingo is a delightful story that kids will enjoy. It is exceptionally well edited. Overall, I thought this was an engaging book, and I didn’t find anything that would cause me to reduce my rating. For those reasons, I rate it 4 out of 4 stars.

I recommend this book to young children, ages 3 to 7. This book makes sense for a younger audience given its simple text and basic storyline.

A very interesting story with a key lesson to children to identify themselves as very useful in every aspects of life. Key factors here are, love, self esteem, and selflessness. Very appropriate for young children and very motivative and engaging.

I think a lot of people feel this same way about themselves atimes but what is important is self love and I hope everyone that relates to this learns it.
