Taken by Storm by Fleur Rossdale is an illustrated fantasy novel. The novel is about sprites, leprechauns, fairies, and other mythical creatures who try and tackle climate change and the effect it has on nature and animals. The mythical creatures and animals who mostly reside in the woodlands are heavily affected by the actions of human beings who exploit the woodlands.

Sky, who is a sprite, hears about an invitation that a bird gives about a ceremony where fairy folks will pay respect to the four winds at the temple of the four winds, and the day after the ceremony, people will tell their nature stories. This catches the attention of Sky, who inquires about it. She states that she and her sister may not be able to go, and she has never left Cabilla, but the bird tells her that is all the more reason for her to try and go. The two also discuss the destruction that is done in the woodland by humans. Sky and Anil try to represent Cabilla and go to the ceremony by asking the Woodland welfare workers; they tell them that they have to write a test. This is where the adventure for the mythical creatures and animals begins.

The use of imagery was amazing in the novel as it infused the reader into the story the more you read it. The author made use of words that effectively portrayed the mythical creatures, the animals, the actions and events which took place, and the settings where they took place. The illustrations that were in the book were also good, and they did not distract from the story but instead enhanced it and gave a visual aid to the descriptions made in the novel. The book was enlightening about the topic of nature conservation. The practicable and effective processes which can be done in order for nature to be preserved and stop the effects of climate change, such as the reduction in the use of plastic, were pointed out in the book. The exploitation of nature and its resources by humans was also discussed in the book, as well as the effects that such practices have on both the environment and animals. A different perspective is given to showcase the impact of climate change. Different animal perspectives are shown in the book as they lay their complaints about how they are affected by climate change and other activities of humanity.

I give the book a rating of four out of four stars. The book accomplished its aim. Climate change's effects were displayed through the distress that the animals and mythical creatures had when humans destroyed the woodland. Also, it showed how climate change could be tackled; this was highlighted in the book. I did not see any negative in the book. The book was professionally edited. In fact, I could only spot a few errors in it.

I recommend the book to lawmakers because the book gives good ideas on ways to combat climate change and check our carbon footprint. These ideas can be made into laws that help tackle climate change. I also recommend the book to the management of companies that produce goods. The book describes some practices which are harmful to the environment and should be avoided. It also shows some good practices which should be implemented by their companies. The book is recommended for climate change activists who are trying to fight climate change and make the earth better.

I love books about mystical creatures. I think this would also be a great book for the younger audience. Nice review!
