Review of Element Girls 2
Have you ever come across a book about magic? Element Girls 2: The Stolen Star by Giulietta M. Spudich is one of a kind. It's a children's book that tells the story of four friends, Tess, Susie, Elizabeth, and Amelia. They refer to themselves as the "element girls" because of their discovered magic powers. Fire, Air, Earth, and Water are their respective magic names. Their powers are most active when their amulets are on. When they went on a vacation to Iceland, Amelia's father got missing on the morning of the vacation. They would have to find him. This adventure might not be quite easy, but they seem stronger together.
The unity of the element girls was inspiring. They didn't have fears and doubts about their strengths. They found a way to always encourage themselves. Their friendship is so rare and unique. When one got into trouble, they worked to get that one out. An instance was when Amelia's father went missing on the first morning of their vacation. They abandoned the fun they had planned to have and helped Amelia to find her father, getting as much help as they could find. They played superhero roles that could keep the younger readers fascinated, especially those who appreciate superhero books. I'm sure most children enjoy such books.
Poetry is a good way to convey a message in a mysterious and yet simple way. The author employed this mechanism in the book. I liked the poems by the man in the harbor, especially the rhyme pattern used in each poem. The way each poem had unique information was another thing I found intriguing about the book. The poem about "Trolls" enlightened the girls about the trolls, and the poem by the older man was a guide for their adventure. The suspense created by their adventure throughout the book was thrilling. Each poem was like an exciting puzzle, providing solutions and serving as a guide.
The book was professionally edited. I found only an error in the book. The general outlook of the book was great. I don't think children would find the author's diction challenging. I didn't dislike anything about the book.
For Element Girls 2: The Stolen Star, I would give a merited 4 out of 4 stars. I loved the book in its entirety. It is one of the best children's books on an adventure I have read. It preaches the importance of unity, trust, and love. I recommend this book to adventure genre lovers, especially children interested in books about magic.
