In Buck & the Boy by Marco McDewey, we follow Dustin as he transits to a teenager. Dustin comes from a loving and God-fearing family. The last-born among his brothers, he learns from their mistakes and tries to be a better human.

One day, Dustin is harassed by a group of bigger boys at school. On his way home, the same group of bullies begins tormenting him when a stray dog he had met a few days ago saves him. Dustin and the homeless dog form a bond, and he names it Buck.

One of the bullies (Chris) Dustin encountered is facing a hard time at home because of his violent father. Brought up in a family that adores goodwill, Dustin believes the best way to repay the bully’s brutality is by showing him kindness. Follow Dustin, Buck, and Chris to know what happens next!

I loved the valuable lessons the author teaches children. One was about kindness. Instead of Dustin revenging Chris for his inappropriate behavior, he formed a special bond with him. Another lesson was not to judge a book by its cover. It wasn’t until Chris opened up about his family issues that I understood the pain he was undergoing. Even I had misjudged him.

There were numerous editing issues because I encountered typos and other grammatical flaws. Consequently, the work needs to be professionally revised. As a result, I rate it 3 out of 4 stars. That is what I despised.

The person I cherished the most was Mrs. Bell. She was the bridge between Buck and Dustin. In addition, she provided a secure dwelling area for Buck. Dustin could visit Mrs. Bell anytime to spend time together. One aspect the author emphasized was faith in God. Plus, Dustin and his family regularly went to church on Sundays, and it was there that he borrowed valuable teachings like forgiveness and kindness. I recommend the book to dog lovers and anyone approaching teenage.

This book has a good plot. I love the story itself as I find it interesting how the bullied kid turns around to still show kindness to his bully. This is a detailed review. Nice work.

Ah, a boy and his dog. A classic premise for heartfelt stories. I like Dustin's approach of using kindness toward the bully, Chris, and that the author explores what might be behind a bully's behavior. This sounds like a great book for young readers.

An age-old plot device for touching tales. I appreciate the author's exploration of the potential causes of a bully's conduct as well as Dustin's strategy of showing Chris kindness. Young readers will enjoy this book, it seems.
