Hey, Young Aries. How to be You! by Joy Pumar is a short children's book that teaches a child how to become a leader. A young sheep named Aries dreams of becoming the leader of his flock, but he is scared that no one will listen to him. While thinking about when he was little and got stuck by a bee, he trips and falls to the bottom of the hill, where he encounters Old Aries, the current leader. Aries tells Old Aries about his fears of being a leader, and Old Aries offers to take him to meet the animal guides that will help him. What are animal guides, and what can they teach Aries?

This beautifully illustrated book is sure to keep a child's interest regardless if they are reading it or if it is being read to them. Each leadership trait is highlighted in bold for easy recognition. Joy Pumar does a fantastic job explaining Aries's feelings after each animal guide is found. Children will recognize and learn to trust the leadership traits they have within themselves. Aries quickly became my favorite character in the book because he had such a cute baby face.

This book has no negative aspects. I only found one missing punctuation mark at the end of a sentence which did not distract from my reading enjoyment. The narrative has been professionally edited, and the illustrations are beautifully done.

I gladly give this short book 4 out of 4 stars. I found no reason whatsoever to give it a lower rating. Other than one missing period, this book is flawless in every way.

Children over the age of six are the ones I recommend this book to. However, younger children will enjoy looking at the illustrations as their parents read the book to them. This book only takes about 10 minutes to read, which makes it perfect for a bedtime story.

I enjoyed the tone you used for your review Bertha ! My child may be best suited to read this book. I'm curious though despite my age to know what became of young Aries. Thank you for the amazing review and for the recommendation.

Animal novels for kids are always fascinating. Thank you for your input; I may read it to my niece tonight.
