In Honabeats Says: Crazy Words!, we come across poetic plays on words embellished with amazing illustrations. The manipulation and blend of words create sure-fire gripping adventures that readers will relish even hours after turning the last page.

This book is written by Howard L. Siskind, Karen L. Siskind, and Sarah J. Siskind. A lot of time was invested in this book, and I am glad it paid off. I was thrilled by the creativity that went into this book. For instance, it was amazing to read about the manipulation done with the word "lizard" and how the first letter "l" was creatively used in the illustration to tie this exciting exercise together.

The play on words and their accompanying illustrations invite the readers to a sort of mental engagement. This excites the readers' minds, creating a soothing effect. I was impressed by that. The book was given proper illustrations, and these helped bring out the beauty of the poems. The colourful painting should capture children's attention.

The word choices were carefully made to give readers rich lyrical lines and rhythm. They will surely nod with delight at the manipulation done to create the homophones "bue" and "boo" (location 30). The book also introduces readers to the art of word formation and inspires them to use their creative selves.

The authors did a great job making this book a captivating read. I licked up the pages before I even noticed I was done! I liked the bit of suspense surrounding the character Honabeats. Who knows his or her whereabouts? Well, the readers will be amazed by what they discover at the end of the book.

I don't have any negative concerns about this book. It was professionally edited. I found just one grammatical error in it. Therefore, I rate this book five out of five stars because of the above positive aspects. I don't have any reason to rate it lower.

I recommend Honabeats Says: Crazy Words! to readers between four and twelve years old. It should also appeal to older readers. This book will make a wonderful companion in a cool evening breeze or shortly before bedtime.
