Review of Minx's Birthday Surprise
It's a special day for Minx. She wakes up excited and ready for a fun-filled day. However, she can't find her friends Jo Jo and Peta. Minx sets out in search of them, assisted by Flippy the Frog and Beanie the Butterfly. Where could Jo Jo and Peta have gone to? Could this incident be a blessing in disguise that could make Minx's birthday the most memorable and fun?
This was an entertaining read for me. I enjoyed reading about Minx's search for her friends. She was so meticulous and resilient that she searched for them almost everywhere imaginable. Flippy the Frog and Beanie the Butterfly's support made the adventure more interesting, and this makes the readers curious to know how it will end. The illustrations garnish everything for the readers' wonder and thrill.
Natalie Butterfield did well in giving this story a spicy start and keeping it as straightforward as possible. The word choices made in the story were simple, which should make it easier for children to read and understand the story. The narration was fluid; I was so engrossed in the story that I didn't want it to end!
The author did a great job of infusing into the story some essential values that children need to learn as they grow up. This is my favourite aspect of this book. Minx embodies values that will help raise children with healthy ideologies and mindsets that will ensure and preserve a continued and harmonious human race.
I was impressed by the character development. Minx's reaction upon not seeing her friends is realistic; she has a special day to celebrate with her friends, so anybody in her condition would likely act the same way. Flippy the Frog and Beanie the Butterfly were appropriately represented as supportive and loyal friends. In addition, this book was thoroughly edited; I did not find any grammatical errors in it.
It's my pleasure to rate Minx's Birthday Surprise five out of five stars. This rating is based on the aforementioned positive aspects. I didn't dislike anything in this book, so there is no reason to lower the rating. I recommend this book to readers between three and nine years old.
