Laughing is one of the best feel-good activities. But can you imagine a world without laughter? A twelve-year-old girl named Lucy is in a bad mood. Her grandmother and the rest of her family haven't been laughing for months. Not a single giggle or chortle escapes their lips. In fact, the whole of Scotland is finding it hard to laugh. Lucy and Ben's grandmother, Sybil, tell the two kids about who might be responsible for such a conundrum. Something might have happened to the old man of Smoo, Gabel Lylhu, who's one of the ticklers of the world. What could it be? What sort of adventure awaits the two children?

The Tickling Tale of Smoo by Louiza Kallona is a fun and imaginative children's story about a brother and a sister's quest to save the world. What I like the most about this book is the imaginative premise. The idea that the children in the story must embark on a quest to bring back laughter to the world sounds funny and exciting. In a fictional tale, I also like it when kids stubbornly try to take matters into their own hands and solve problems. I feel like it can teach young readers to always think about the greater good.

I also appreciate the sense of adventure the narrative brings. It introduces you to characters that you will find endearing. Young readers will find it easy to love and relate to them.

The book is a short novel with no elaborate illustrations. The writing style of the author is simple and fun. There are no intricate paragraphs to get through, only short descriptions and dialogues. I didn't find any errors in the text, so I believe it has excellent editing quality. I also have no issues with the book.

Overall, my rating for The Tickling Tale of Smoo is 5 out of 5 stars. I like how imaginative the storyline is. The author did a good job making the characters endearing and the fictional world engaging. The book will cater best to young readers who like fantasy books. If your children want to practice reading English books without pictures, then this book will be a great starting point.
