Review of Come To The Well
Come To The Well by Michelle Hancock is a wonderfully written children’s book about Marie. Marie was a little girl who did not know how to behave. She was mean to the cat, and she pulled the dog’s tail. Even when her mother punished her by taking her toys and sending her to her room, she still did not listen to her. One day, her grandmother visited the house and took Marie to get ice cream. While they were eating their ice cream, Marie’s grandmother told her a story about a wishing well and how it helped her whenever she was scared. What is this well about?
I enjoyed reading this book. It had an amazing storyline that flowed perfectly to keep my attention glued to it. This book tackled some common societal issues, like parenting and child upbringing. It was great to see how the grandmother managed Marie’s case. Most parents, like Marie’s mother, believe that the only way to correct a stubborn child is by punishing the child, but Marie’s grandmother tackled this case by trying another smart way, which even had a longer-lasting effect.
The only minor problem I have with this book is the illustrations in it. They seem to be dull and not catchy enough to draw a child’s attention. Aside from this, I think this book was perfect. It teaches children how to be good. The best message that this book has is that it is good to be friends with Jesus, and children will learn all these things when they get a copy of this book.
This book deserves a full rating for how unique the storyline is and all the messages it conveys, so I rate it 5 out of 5 stars. I found no errors in this book, and this speaks of how exceptionally edited this book is.
I recommend this book to Christian children between the ages of 5 and 11. Parents who have a hard time trying to correct their children who are behaving badly can read this book and buy it for their children too.
