Review of LiL Spirit's Thank Yous
There are many, many things to be thankful for in this world, and sometimes it just takes a moment to appreciate them. I love when Lil’ Spirit wakes up and watches the sunrise on Sacred Mountain at the opening of Lil’ Spirit’s Thank Yous. It is a reminder that finding stillness in peaceful places can open our hearts to gratitude.
Lil’ Spirit’s Thank Yous by Brandie Grasso is a fantastic book for fostering a sense of gratitude in children. Lil’ Spirit sets the example by praying to give thanks for the earth, the sky, and everything in between. This book’s beautiful rhyming text and vibrant illustrations set the scene perfectly for its message. In reading it to children, caregivers themselves will be inspired to breathe a little more deeply and give thanks a little more often.
I chose to review this book because I wanted a book at home to remind my daughter to be grateful for the many blessings we have. This is the perfect book for that. Although she is still very young, my daughter already loves this book. She asked me to read it four times yesterday. She loves looking at the pictures, and I expect her to enjoy reading the text as she grows older. The book’s illustrator, Tugçe Cinardarli, uses bright colors to make each page shine.
The things I would change about this book are very minor. Personally, I would prefer a cleaner font. The font used is somewhat busy and quite large. It looks beautiful, but trying to read the book from different angles (as one does with small children) can be a little challenging at first. I would also appreciate sturdier paper for the pages, as I expect this book is going to be quite loved and worn out over time.
Overall, I give this book 5 out of 5 stars. The things I would change about it are so insignificant that I don’t see a need to deduct a star at all. I feel grateful for the opportunity to review this book and have it in my home.
I recommend this book to families who value spirituality and want to share that with their children. It is not specifically Christian, so it appeals to a larger audience. For instance, the book’s prayer uses “Aho” in place of the more commonly known “Amen” in Christian prayers. This stems from Brandie Grasso’s personal studies in shamanism. Those who are uncomfortable with spirituality may find it more difficult to enjoy this book. Ultimately, Lil’ Spirit’s Thank Yous by Brandie Grasso is a delightful and inspiring book, sure to please young and old alike.

Thank you! I have been enjoying reading it several times a day recently, and I keep being reminded to stop and be grateful for the moment. My 1-year-old is loving this book and gives me a hug every time we finish it.Adiskidan wrote: ↑01 May 2023, 14:10 Thank you for such a wonderful and insightful review of "Lil’ Spirit’s Thank Yous” by Brandie Grasso. Your focus on the book's ability to inspire gratitude in children is definitely an important message that we all could use a little more of in our lives. I also appreciate your honesty in mentioning the minor things you would change about the book, especially how some may find the font style and paper quality a bit challenging.
