This lovely book by Jo Beth Cairnes titled "Rosie and the Dancing Butterfly" is for children. When Rosie the puppy is outside, she likes to chase butterflies. When she followed the butterfly one day, she ended up lost and alone. She desperately hoped her owner, Jo, would come looking for her.

The author's vivid descriptions are expertly brought to life in the book's illustrations. It was also colourful and endearing, qualities that would pique a youngster's interest. As an adult, I found the descriptions
to be fantastic and perfect for the intended audience.

The illustrations were fantastic; they were colourful and effectively complemented the text. The story was entertaining, and I thought it was really clever how the author worked in the butterfly. The writing is in such a way that the target audience can easily understand it, and it will not be too much for them to take in. There was even a lesson to be learned in the book, which I believe is very important in these modern times, when children have a tendency to wander off by themselves without considering the consequences.

The book receives 4 out of 5 stars from me. The story seemed to lose momentum in the middle of the book, so I docked a star for that. Specifying which parts would be spoilers, so I won't be able to do so here. The text and illustrations were fantastic, and the book might even teach the reader something. Although I believe the book to be perfectly edited in terms of grammar, I believe the plot could use very little improvement.

This book's descriptions and illustrations will appeal to children between the ages of five and ten just as much as they did to me. Children who are enthusiastic about both dogs and butterflies will enjoy reading this book.
