Review of Little Girl, Big Imagination: At the Beach

Little Girl, Big Imagination: At the Beach is a children’s book by Andrea Matei. The story is part of a photo book miniseries. The book is suitable for children aged 4-8, helping to support reading and developing healthy imaginations.
Gabi is a little girl who creates adventures with her imagination. She likes to explore the world creatively, and it’s no different when she goes to the beach. Gabi loves to play and invites the reader to come with her. She likes to swim and enjoys the water, where she finds a ballerina doll in a pink dress and shoes. Her creative mind allows her to enjoy a magical experience.
At the beginning of the book is a list of keywords in the text. This list helps children read the book with more ease. I thought this was a clever addition by the author, adding more education. The words are repeated often in the story, which provides vocabulary practice.
The photographs that display the story are lovely. They clearly show Gabi’s adventure and are well taken. I found this to be original because most children’s books have illustrations. I think the photographs are inviting and appealing to young readers.
Throughout the text, Gabi asks the reader many questions. These questions provide talking points and further exploration of words and imagination. I think this is ideal for educators, parents, and guardians. Time spent reading this book with children provides fun, visual stimulation, and word practice. I believe the book offers a lot more than I initially expected.
I especially like the promotion of using your imagination creatively and artistically when exploring the world. Young minds are open and curious, and with encouragement, the world is a magical place filled with adventure. The author reminds us to see the world through children’s eyes, as what they see is mesmerising.
I didn’t find any spelling or grammar mistakes in the book. The book is exceptionally professionally edited. I loved the photography and the simple story to stimulate children’s imaginations. The word practice is an extra educational advantage. I found nothing to dislike about the book, and I rate it 5 out of 5 stars.
