Some books tell beautiful stories about friendship to our children and teach them the importance of having good relationships. Patti Melt the Squirrel by Luella Jackson is one of these wonderful books. It tells the story of Patti Melt, a squirrel who lives in the forest with many friends, including Mr. Bird, Mr. Bear, and Mrs. Rabbit. Patti collects berries every day, but one day, she is attacked by The Wolf. Mr. Bird hears her screaming and alerts Mr. Bear. Mr. Bear immediately runs to save Patti, but she is hurt and needs help. How will this story end?

Patti Melt the Squirrel is a story I enjoyed reading because it focuses on one of the most precious things our kids must learn — the value of friendship. The best thing I found in this book is the closeness of friends when Patti needs help. If every young reader understands this message and practices it with their friends, none of them will ever be alone again.

The images in the book are lovely, and I think children will appreciate them because they remind them of their own drawings. These pictures illustrate very well the most significant parts of the story and convey the message of friendship in the images where Patti and her friends are together (my favorite is the one where they are eating together).

As far as typographical errors are concerned, the book is well-edited, save for a few oversights.

I am delighted to rate this book 5 out of 5 stars for the reasons I have explained. I did not find any negative sides because the story is delightful. I recommend Patti Melt the Squirrel to anyone who wants to give young readers good examples. I also believe that adults could help children understand the meaning of this story if they read it together.
