Eating healthy and developing healthy habits are vital to living your best life. It all starts when you're young. In the book Let's Make Our Favorite Foods Nutri-Licious! by Heba Mountaser, she breaks down ideas to make your favorite kid foods healthier so they can still enjoy them while getting their proper nutrients. Want to find out what foods will be chosen and how to make them healthier? Find out by reading this 27-page book.

Mountaser, a registered dietician, is passionate about teaching kids the benefits of food. As a mom, she chose to start educating her children early and followed three simple rules:
1. Exposing them to various foods to explore and experiment
2. Keeping it simple, fun, and interactive
3. She sets an example by following healthy eating habits herself.
She chose nine children to anonymously interview and they chose nine foods for her to make healthier. From the illustrations, the children have different backgrounds and ethnicities. Also included at the end are three pages of blank plates to make your favorite foods healthier from the information given, if they're not mentioned in the book.

There were some elements of the book I liked. The illustrations, interactivity, and ideas expressed throughout the book were creative. Children will enjoy looking at the colorful pictures and reading about the different foods in the book. I also appreciated that Mountaser incorporated children with diverse backgrounds to show diversity. The font color scheme was unique and bold, catching children's eyes.

However, I do have a couple of critiques. Only nine children and nine foods were mentioned in the book. There are millions of options, but I am a stickler for even numbers. If Mountaser had chosen ten children and ten foods to feature, I'd give that a free pass. Also, many healthy options were repetitive, and there are other ways to make the foods healthier, especially with children having dietary needs and restrictions. However, the book was exceptionally well-edited and well-written. For these reasons, I am giving this book 4 out of 5 stars.

I recommend this book for families with young children interested in eating healthier and exploring more options. Reading this book with my nephews and niece was quite enjoyable, and I hope other families enjoy reading, discovering, and exploring new ways to eat healthier.

Encouraging children to eat healthy food becomes more difficult day after day. It is good to have a book with colorful recipes and pictures that can attract children to the idea. As always, I love reading your opinion about the books, whether positive or negative . Great review Meghan
Life is hard on its own so let's make it easier for each other if we could.

Thank you, Sarah! It's so great to hear from you. Encouraging children to eat healthy gets more complex every day, but having this book as another aide makes eating healthy fun for them. Thanks again for your kind words, and I can't wait to read more of your reviews too! :D
