Review of Don't let the goat ruin your birthday party
It's a birthday party, and Whisper the goat is present, but she goes about causing mischief: from begging for a little bite off a yummy pie to wanting to give a piñata a headbutt and wanting to touch the floating balloons. She just couldn't stop! And it appears Whisper doesn't take no for an answer. Well, there is more fun in all these than you can imagine!
The story is interactive and engaging, and this picks up right from the moment the narrator asks, "Ready for a surprise?" and continues with the invitation to practice on how to stop Whisper if she tries to be naughty or attempts to use her magic. The magic scenes were another interesting aspect of this story. Children will feel truly involved in the narrative.
Cristina Bárbara Alarcón has done a great job weaving a story that sparks interest, curiosity, and engagement. Her word choices are apt, and the questions and the calls to action added to the story's appeal. The illustrations are rich and fit with the fun and celebration in the atmosphere. The sudden transition from the darkness to reintroduce the narrator was amazing. Also, the collection showing the items featured in this story was a thoughtful addition.
Whisper the goat is very mischievous. Her mischief often puts her into trouble, but she doesn't learn, as she continues to feed her curiosity. But then she is a funny character, and her curious nature makes her lovable. I had a good laugh watching the painting of her entanglement with the floating balloons.
"Don't Let the Goat Ruin Your Birthday Party" will delight every child, and guess what? It offers a perfect medium for parents, teachers, and caregivers to bond and relax with kids. I didn't dislike anything in this book, so I rate it five out of five stars. This work was exceptionally well edited.
