The Pout Pout Fish

Post by Chough02 »

I absolutely love this baby book. Yes its simple and repetitive but thats what babies need and love. Babies are the best book reviewers ever because they will give their honest opinion no matter what and my baby LOVES this book. He always laughs and sways along to the story. The rhythm of the words it just perfect and there is a sweet little meaning to the story. In the beginning the fish is talking to all his sea creature friends and apologizing for being so down but that's just the way he is. He's a pout pout fish but then at the end he realizes he is much more than that. Its a very cute story for young babies and children!

My girls loved this book! It's well written and engaging for children. It can get monotonous for the adult after awhile. :)

I never bought this book, but everytime we go to the bookstore, my daughter wants this read to her. I think the illustrations help giving me the picture of the adorable pout pout fish.

Four months ago I was blessed to have my first child. Now I get to explore the world of children's books all over again. The other night my son's bedtime story was "The Pout Pout Fish". The Pout Pout Fish is the main character that for some reason, that he doesnt understand but has accepted, is always feeling down. I like that even though he is depressed, he isn't angry and doesn't lash out at the many friends that come along to try to get him to cheer up.
The illustration has beautiful colors and lines, especially the front cover. At the end of the book, our main character gets a random kiss from a stranger that calls herself a kiss-kiss fish. The Pout Pout Fish awakens as if this is the first day of his life. This kiss has such an impact, he declares that he too is a Kiss Kiss Fish. The book ends with the assumption that these two fish are now a couple. I'm happy to see that the author has now written more Pout Pout books and I'm anxious to get my hands on them.

The Pout Pout fish was always one of my favorites to read to my son. Man I LOVED doing the Blub Blub Blub and making all the silly noises and voices. My son is 10 now and while he still loves books, he loves reading more to himself now :(. I'm hoping we can find some bigger books to read together soon.
