“The Hummingbird & The Narwhal” by Annie Higbee is a children’s book that explores how friendships are found in unusual places. The hummingbird was flying on a path to Maine and a change in wind patterns pushed it north to the Arctic where it landed on a Narwhal that had just surfaced in the ocean. A fast friendship formed between the two because they thought they were very similar and could help one another. Children will love this book especially since the hummingbird and narwhal are such an unusual pairing especially since hummingbirds do not migrate to the Arctic Ocean and narwhals migrate to the Arctic. I will enjoy reading this book to my great grandchildren. Very good review.

An amazing children's book "The Hummingbird & The Narwhal" by Annie Higbee, which follows a hummingbird and a narwhal who have a lot in common apart from visible differences. This book is entertaining to read.

Hi Ivana, thank you for your well-written and thorough review of this book. Indeed, not only are hummingbirds and narwhals rarely seen in children's stories they are rarely seen at all! They are both fascinating creatures and this book that uses them as characters in the story is a gift to us and our children. You are correct. I read the first few pages and the writing is wonderful, and the illustrations are beautiful. I will be reading this book to my grandchildren. Have a nice day. :techie-studyinggray:

The good thing about children's books is the important life lessons the children get to understand while they are still young and this book shows how a friendship can start between 2 very different creatures.

Annie Higbee's storytelling in this children's book is truly commendable. The tale of a hummingbird and a narwhal coming together emphasizes the significance of friendship and kindness in a unique and engaging way. The illustrations, painted with crayons, complement the narrative beautifully.

I think that narwhals and hummingbirds are animals rarely seen in literature, particularly children's literature, which makes this book even more authentic and unique.

A beautiful story with vivid illustrations the children’s book, "The Hummingbird & The Narwhal" by Annie Higbee is a must read. It is about friendship and how we could save one another and by extension, the earth if we just take notice of the most important things in life. I would suggest this book to be read by children age nine and up. It is a beautiful book that everyone will enjoy.

The first thing I googled after reading the book title was, "What is a narwhal"? I'm glad the author is introducing a animal that people never see in the U.S. because they live so far off in the artic. I love children's books that are both informative and entertaining, so I know kids will be drawn to this story. Congrats to the author for having the BOTD.

Thank you for sharing such a heartfelt and detailed review of "The Hummingbird & the Narwhal" by Annie Higbee. Your enthusiasm for the book is evident, and your comprehensive analysis provides valuable insights for potential readers.

It's delightful to hear how the author skillfully weaves a tale of friendship between a hummingbird and a narwhal, two seemingly different animals who discover their similarities and the ways they can support each other. The concept of finding friendships in unexpected places is a universal theme that resonates, and it's wonderful to see it portrayed in a children's book.
