Hi Gerry! I loved the review of this book. I would definitely like to read it. I really like this type of subject because I have seen things and I have also been told real stories of wonderful miracles that happen every day.Gerry Steen wrote: ↑22 Dec 2024, 14:00 [Following is an official OnlineBookClub.org review of "She Had Wings" by Audrey Carnegie.]
Have you ever been lucky to escape a perilous situation in which your life was at risk? Have you ever wondered how people survived situations that you found to be unbearable? Do you believe in guardian angels? Do you know any children who would benefit from believing in guardian angels? If you answered yes to any of these questions, you will enjoy reading … She Had Wings by Audrey Carnegie.
In this collection of short stories, problematic situations, which are common to young people and their significant others, were presented. In each story, a situation was explained, a dysfunctional behavior was highlighted, and a guardian angel came to the rescue.
A guardian angel is believed, by many, to be assigned the task of protecting and guiding people. A guardian angel could be a spiritual being or a human. The author, Audrey Carnegie, presented a guardian angel as a spiritual being, who could only be seen by the person they were helping.
Throughout the book, various themes were examined ranging from a deaf little boy having difficulty communicating with his family to a 16-year-old boy who lied to a social worker about his needs at home.
My favorite story was about a little girl who got a chance to play football on a local boys’ team.
Each story led me to believe that things turn out for the best if one follows one’s conscience, maintains a positive attitude, and is courageous. For example, in “The Ernest Footballer,” Timothy resorted to pinching his baby brother to make him cry, thereby forcing his parents to get up earlier. This was his strategy to get to football practice on time and have a better chance of getting into the lineup for the next game. However, this plan caused a chain of events that prevented him from being in the lineup. His guardian angel gave him advice that would improve his odds of being in a future lineup.
I liked the solutions the guardian angel employed to help the young people solve their problems. These could be helpful and comforting to anyone experiencing a difficult situation. I enjoyed the magic found in each story. However, there were some shortcomings. I came across many grammar errors as I was reading. Also, paragraphs were not consistently used to separate the dialogue lines between characters. This made it difficult to follow who was saying what. I suggest that the author gets this delightful book professionally edited.
For the above reasons, I gave this book 3 out of 5 stars.

Interesting review! This sounds like something I might find interest in. I tend to enjoy writings on faith based topics. It is unfortunate that this one had a number of formatting and grammatical errors though, I understand how frustrating that can be, especially for reviewers!
Thanks Gerry!
As a geologist and christian, I also particularly enjoy books on science and faith.

I love a book I can relate to, and this one resonates with me, I shall seek it out. I often share my reasons for liking a book's premise. Having a daughter who was a troubled child and teenager, the idea of her having a guardian angel would have given me much comfort, and I hope she had one. I like to keep an open mind on these things. She certainly overcame a lot, so who knows? I think these optimistic books should certainly be more widespread because they can give hope and comfort to many people in their hour of need.
This is a great review and a book that will be going on my shelf to read. Congratulations on another great review!

Has potential but seems to like professional guidance making the book seem amateur despite being a children's book.
Although the theme and concept about heavenly bodies makes it stand out as it's kind is not that common in this generations genre.
Outstanding!!!!
Building creativity.
