"...more in control of their environment ". This is exactly what I feel when I can't wrap my mind around something. Even now as an adult. Very intelligent book. Congrats to the author.

This book is definitely outside of my demographic, and I don't have very young children to give it to. That said, judging from the review this seems like a very nice little addition to a parent's library; it's great to hear that the book uses the actual science behind thunderstorms to unveil the mystery of this weather, and as a result make it less intimidating for them. Cute drawings and a child protagonist for the little kids to relate are also a plus. :)

I perceive that this book could be read by adults as well. I know because I am an adult and I'm still afraid of thunder and lightning. I know I'm not the only one in this space. Thanks for this review.

This is a good book for children to learn about thunder and lightning and for the parent that will be reading it to them. Thunder and lightning are fascinating phenomenons and children and parents need to understand the basics so they fear the power but realize the risk is not as great as they may think. The children that have this book read to them may become future meteorologists. I enjoyed the sample and if I had young children I would buy this book and read it to them. The author did a great job and the official review was easy to follow.

Wow, I liked the fact that instead of telling the child another made up story about the origin of two scientific scenarios, the author had decided to explain it. Thank you for the detailed review.

So I think this book just explains the mechanism behind Thunder and Lightening. More like understanding nature and why this happens. BOTD.

I wish I read this book when I was a kid. It's true once you learn the true science between they cease to be frightening. I like how JD smith has taken upon himself to explain this phenomenon to children. Congrats to the author on BOTD!

This seems like a great book for children, at least they won't buy those silly lies about thunderstorms and lightning again. Congrats on Botd.

Thank you for sharing your review. I love that the author chose the route of truth and science rather than fantasy to help children feel more in control of their own environment.

Wonderful book to read for children not only for fun but for being educative. I agree that we must educate our kids with reality about nature not superstition and lies. This is a book to read for children. Nice review.

As an Early Childhood Educator, I personally prefer books like this which are backed up with legitimate scientific facts, but still friendly enough by using the simplest terms so that children will still get their imaginations going. From an Educator's perspective, I have observed that while most children like being told "silly things" such as rain are angel tears or lightning means the angels are having a photoshoot in the sky, you will still come across "smart kids" who prefers to be told the real things. I think this book is just the perfect book to teach about thunder! :D
