Shadow's story is relatable to children, and the drawings are realistic, with a unique touch thanks to the use of coloured pencils. Thank you for the review.
never have I ever read a story from an animal point of view. The reviewer gave a beautiful introduction of Shadow. He leaves reader with a suspenseful questions to anticipate reading the book.
I hope Shadow finally finds his way home. I can't believe the author had a cat missing for two years! Shadow's Adventure Home by Kathy Kovar will be a great addition to any kid's library.
"Shadow's Adventure Home" by Kathy Kovar is a heartwarming fictional recount of a true story of the author's cat who went missing for 2 years. Told from a third person's point of view and depicting the cat's perspective, this heartwarming children's book are colorful enough to capture a young child’s attention.
A curious cat, Shadow ventures out one day through an open door of his home to catch birds. Soon, he has come a long way and forgotten his way back home. What happens next? A colourful children's book that engages children.
Shadow sounds like an interesting character and the journey of finding its home would be worth reading. The illustrations also makes the book catchy for children. Congratulations on BOTD.
"Shadow's Adventure Home" by Kathy Kovar is a story about a cat named Shadow that loves his family and he also loves watching birds through the windows. When his family moved to a house in the country that had much bigger windows. Shadow was very excited since he was able to watch even more birds in the yard. One day, someone in the house left the door open and Shadow decided to run outside and try to catch one of the birds. Shadow ended up running, climbing and pouncing on a few birds. When Shadow decided to go home, he has no idea which way was home. I really love this story since when my daughters were young, they convinced me to adopt a cat that they named White Socks because the cat was black with white paws. White Socks was not a typical cat since he was not afraid of people including repair men and my friends. Instead of running and hiding he would greet people that came in through the front door and then he would jump up on the softa and play with people’s hair. He did not seem to be attracted to birds but he never went outside and did not have a place to sit and watch out of the window. Shadow was very upset that he did not know the way home. Kathy Kovar wrote this story based on her own cat that went missing for two years. The story was written from Shadow’s perspective in the third-person and this along with the illustrations probably made the story much more interesting for young children. Fortunately for Shadow, he was found and taken to a pet shelter. When his family learned that he was at the shelter they went and claimed him and the family is very happy to have him home again. It is a very cute story that I would like to read to my three great grandsons.
I love cats and I know how the author must have felt that their cat went missing. I'm glad they got inspiration from the incident to write such a great book for children.
"Shadow’s Adventure Home" is the story of a cat, Shadow, who gets lost while out playing but eventually finds his way back. Shadow must have been really scared not knowing if he'd ever find his way back to his humans, but I imagine they had a beautiful reunion. Congrats on BOTD!
