I really like the theme of art being made with magic. It does seem like a Harry Potter type book, but it seems to me that it will still be different. I'm not a tween and I think I'm going to read it. Perhaps it will push me to recommend it to my niece and nephew and their friends. The review is pretty clear and well detailed. I believe the MAGORA series will be a great success.

I would have to agree with the reviewer that this book sounded very Harry Potteresque. Even though the theme is familiar, it still sound like a good read. Based more in art than magic, the story line sounds plausible. Thank you for a very thorough and good review! I have no children around to read it but downloaded it anyway!!

I like the idea of mixing art with magic. Art is a kind of magic, in my opinion. I think I would enjoy this book. Thanks for your insightful review!

Well-written and insightful review! At first, I was put off from reading this book because of the close similarity to Harry Potter. However, I am glad the author commented and cleared up the issue for everyone. I think the plot is interesting especially for middle-aged children who tend to have more imagination than adults.

Great book review by a talented author/illustrator who shares two of my passions--writing and artwork! It's my dream to someday write and illustrate my own children's book. I'm definitely going to share this book with my cousin's wife, who is an art teacher in elementary school. I think she would really love it! I can't wait to read this book as well as book #2. And another congrats to author Marc Remus for bringing this book to us--I hope you do well breaking out on the scene as an author! I'm truly a book addict (You know, I love my kindle, but I LOVE paper books--the textures of the pages, the smell of a good book...) so I applaud you!

You pointed out the similarities of this book with Harry Potter, but i think it also has some similarities with The Chronicles of Narnia since in both books the characters go to a magic realm where they have to defeat an evil ruler, in this book they enter this magic kingdom through a painting, the same way Edmund, Lucy and Eustace enter to Narnia in The Voyage of the Dawn Treader (Narnia's 3rd book). Both Harry Potter and Narnia are two excellent books written by fantastic writters, all of this kinds of stories generally take some things of other stories but is important to keep originality when you're writting your own story, i really hope the author of this book takes the story to a different way from others later in the series to finally lose all similarities to other books.

Congrats on the great review! Thank you for describing it in such detail. I will definitely want to read this book. True, you might have felt a lot of similarities between it and the Harry Potter series, but I'm sure that it has some unique qualities of its own. Hope it's a page-turner!

I'm sure that the intricate description of artwork would be intriguing to read.

As I was reading your review, I thought that it seemed similar to Harry Potter. Then I saw that you came to that conclusion. I am glad that you like the book, but Harry Potter books are the only fantasy books that I have sincerely enjoyed. However, I will occasionally read one if it sounds good. Great job on the review!
