This sounds like a great coming of age novel. It is intriguing to know how the relationship progresses with her aunt and how her experiences over the summer change her. Thanks for a great review.

It sounds like a very relatable book on a topic that is all too common for young people, divorce. It seems like an excellent book for young readers on learning how to deal with real-life situations and disappointments.

:o I enjoyed this story, Lea had to cheer herself up. Still it’s hard when reality hits hard. This would be good for teenagers who are going through a tough time.

Being separated from your loved ones to spend time with a stranger is really a hard thing. I can only imagine how things were for Lea. Good review thank you for it.

Shame the book wasn't yet written in my teen years when I as well had to live through my parents divorce. Seems like it's great reading to help kids take their minds of such huge problems going on with the adventure and also a good way to sympathise, to know they are not the only ones who has to face this tragedy. Wholeheartedly congratulations on BOTD!

Lea is faced with the realities of life and has to undergo a growth process. From her parents splitting, to her brother being sent to her grandmother's and she being sent to her aunt's. New life, new neighbourhood, new challenges, new changes. Cheers!!!

An ingenious plot that centers on a teenage girl who suffers from the separation of her parents and also has to live with her barely known aunt. It is interesting that she is coping with her transformation from childhood to adulthood.

I agree with your age range that you gave for the intended audience for this book. I think that the preteen and teenager ages can be difficult to write for, but this author has mastered it quite beautifully. I also liked that she included real life events that have happened in many families and used them as a teaching tools for other young readers. It is always important for readers to feel connected to the story especially when it deals with tougher issues.

This sounds like an excellent book for young readers! I could empathize with Lea having to spend the summer with an aunt she barely knew! I'm sure she thought her summer was ruined before it even started! Thank you for an excellent review!

"SandPeople" by Cheryl Kerr - 12-year-old Lea is dealing with her parent's plan to divorce. Part of the plan is Lea must stay with an aunt she doesn't know in Texas through the summer instead of with her family, mother, father, brother, and Grandma. It's a hard summer for Lea. Very nice review. Thanks.

I like that this story deals with teenagers growing while also entertaining them. This is something I would have loved to read when I was younger and I might even consider reading it now. Lovely review!

I love this kind of stories. I think it sounds like something to enjoy but also to reflect. I might give this a go, despite I am much older than what you mention. These teen years are very important for defining one's personality, and I like to see different depictions of this in stories. Thanks for your review, it was very clear and enjoyable to read.
