Thanks for the wonderful review. I strongly recommend this book for South African children. It should be used in schools as a reading tool.
This is a book that will help learners who are early readers to improve their reading and speaking skills. I also like the fact that children will really enjoy reading the book. The illustrations are powerful and clear.

Hi, Julie. Thank you for the great review of this fantastic children's book. My grandson is one of those children who will enjoy this book. He loves all kinds of trucks including recycling trucks, loaders, excavators, and dump trucks, to name a few. Have a great day. :techie-studyinggray:

I would like to know what Luke did with his bulldozer. The fact that his friends also got their equipments such as the excavator shows that their is a task ahead to enlighten children.

Mikey's steamrolling antics are sure to make kids giggle. Minor conflicts arise, but overall, the story lacks depth. The origin of the magical machines remains unexplained, leaving a hint of mystery.

Luke and his friends find machinery. Luke gets a bulldozer, while his other friends get a steam roller, a dump truck, and an excavator. What will they construct with the machinery available? It is an interesting read with great illustrations. Luke has a fun time with his friends, but he makes sure he is on time for dinner. This is a fun book for children to read.

I think this book will encourage children who love construction equipment toys to have them and can also help children understand if they like them and that can make a career in the future.

This sounds like a nice book for kids that teaches them to feel happy sharing your joy with the closest friends and that the best way to learn something is by experiencing it yourself even if you have to make mistakes at first like it was with Mikey who was "rolling over things he shouldn’t with the steamroller by mistake". Congratulations on becoming BOTD!

This sounds like a story borne out of a child's play. Children will love it as they envision Luke and his friends playing with their heavy machinery. If they had any of them as toys, while playing, they might even practice what they learned from the story.

While playing with a bulldozer is perhaps every kid's dream, I don't see the educational purpose of this book. I admit that children's books could be just for fun, but I find it a bit irresponsible that three kids just started using the machinery because it was there (children should know that just because you find something, it doesn't mean you should take it or use it). I would probably not read this book.

Well, the illustrations on the cover definitely look cute. If the whole book is equally cute, I bet my kids will love it. You mentioned that there were no explanations offered on how the machinery showed up. The first thing that comes to mind is that maybe it was an imaginary play of the children? Maybe the machines only existed in their imagination? Children are really good at imaginary games. Be it as it may, I am thinking I have to read this with my kids. Thank you for the lovely review!

"The Day I Had a Bulldozer" by Ashley Wall is an imaginative and fantastically illustrated story about a youngster discovering a bulldozer in his yard and then finding that his friends also are driving construction equipment around. Toddlers and their siblings seem to automatically gravitate to construction equipment and they will love the story. The illustrations are vividly depicted and outstanding. An excellent review by the Online Book Club also!

The book talks about everything related to construction equipment, tractors, toys, and holiday occasions. It concerns a group.
Stories for children or a group of children with their friends creating fun among themselves.
The book's characters are fun and entertaining, with the illustrations and colors adding to the story.
A wonderful book recommended for children
