Toni the Superhero is an engaging children's book written by R.D. Base and illustrated by Debbie Hefke. This particular book is about a boy identified as Tony. He performs ordinary everyday tasks that make him feel like a superhero. It is mentioned that he possesses extraordinary power, but in this book, they just talk about his routine activities. This book is extremely encouraging. Tony the Superhero runs at about 30 pages, short enough for any age group.

I loved the illustrations. They were filled with color, and I think they will attract any child. I think the art was just magnificent. I also loved how Tony was not Caucasian. I love seeing diversity in books and this being a kids book will help a child to not grow up with racism. I also think it was great that the illustrations of food were all healthy. There were depictions of fruits and veggies as opposed to burgers. My only issue with the illustration is Tony's hands as he was sleeping, they were a little off.

The writing style was clear. No grammar mistakes were noted. The sentence structure was simple and precise. The story itself was, in my opinion, very cute. I appreciated how the author went about the character. Tony feels like a superhero just by performing standard everyday things for a child. Like playing, assisting his family, and reading. I think this feature will provide children with adequate life lessons such as helping clean, eating healthy, and enjoying the outdoors.

Taking everything into consideration, I give this children's novel a well-deserved rating of four out of four stars. The art and story were brilliant. The editing was perfect with sweet and coherent sentences. I enthusiastically recommend this to all parents of kids between the ages of 2-7 will retain a significant interest in this book.
