What's Your Favorite Color? by Amber L. Lassiter is a book that explores the world of learning in a unique and creative way. The story starts off with a school teacher who is looking to do something a little different with the day's lesson. The teacher asked her students to wear their favorite color to class because she had a special project in mind for their chosen color.

Soon there is an introduction to one of the students: Amber. She is the focus of the story. It is through her experiences that we see her interactions with classmates along with her unique approach to the classroom assignment.

The assignment: paint a picture featuring your favorite color. Though simple, Amber realizes she didn't pack her paints and winds up boring some from the class supply closet. The colors she wanted to use weren't in stock, so she had to borrow some paint from her classmates which lead to an almost never-ending obstacle course.

Every time she asks to borrow a color, the classmate she borrows it from thinks it's her favorite color. She sets out to finish her painting but realizes her true favorite color is missing but can't seem to find it anywhere in the classroom. With time running out, she has a happy accident when paint spills on the floor revealing her favorite color; the one she needed to finish her masterpiece.

This is truly a refreshing read and the layout is perfect for classroom use; be it in a group or one-on-one. After reading about a scene in the story, the readers have to answer a question. This question tests readers' observation and comprehension skills.

What's Your Favorite Color? gets a 4 out of 4 due to its ease of reading, simply worded questions and expressive characters. There was nothing read nor seen that provoked a dislike. This book is ideal for young and old alike; which means just about everyone will enjoy reading this book.
