Serendipity Mystery: Diary of a Snoopy Cat is a children’s book featuring the detective cat Inca and her squad. The author, R.F. Kristi, has written several books in the same series and has done a commendable job in each one of them.

Inca and her family are going on a vacation to Sri Lanka this summer. They want to have a peaceful time away from all the unwanted adventures. As this group of cats has never kept calm as the name suggests, they snoop around, and embark on yet another adventure in Sri Lanka solving a case of theft.

This is the second book that I am reading in the Inca book series, and I have really come to like the way Kristi imparts knowledge to young minds. Every book takes place in a different country and hence she writes about the culture and traditions of the country. She describes the weather, the wildlife and other such characteristics which is very much informative. She uses a wide range of vocabulary and therefore introduces new words to its target audience. Her story brings various animals together as they resolve the case as a team. Cats and dogs become best friends. They also accept help from an elephant and a turtle. All such traits and elements teach a harmonious living.

There are very few spelling mistakes and grammatical errors in this book. A book like this should be professionally edited for it has the job of preparing young kids. I did not find any other flaws in this otherwise impeccable story.

I rate this book 4 out of 4 stars for its entertaining story, informative nature, and excellent illustrations. I feel I can overlook the spelling mistakes mentioned above for it will be nit-picking if I rate this book less just for that. Readers of age 6 to 12 will find this amusing. They will devour it and cherish the after-taste. Parents will be happy to read this book to their children and teach them good values through this story.

HAPPY READING!
